This piece was created by researching an endangered animal, and creating a logo to bring awareness of the reality of this species condition. This project was done by the Design 240 class. Each student had to pick an endangered animal and create a logo for them. This assignment was for us to practice creating products that look like they are from the same place/person, as this is what artists need to do for companies. This means that we all used the same typeface and layout, but the logo designs differ due to our choice of animal. The animals were found on worldwildlife.org.
I chose the African Wild Dog. I made sure to emphasize their unique ears, as this is what makes them recognizably different from other dog species. I added the continent of African, with Madagascar, on the hind quarters of the dog. This was intended to gently push the African Wild Dogs' origin into the viewers mind, so if they don't read the text they could still understand where they are from.
